Enemies

Mataymon
The main villain of the story. A sick and twisted virus Digimon whose goal is to control both the Digital World and the Real World by destroying all possible opposers and ruling over what's left. He wears long, dark flowing robes with his face hidden underneath, and carries a tarnished silver staff. His origins are ancient and shrouded in mystery.

The Midnight Army
The main force of Dark Digimon working to take control of the Digital World. The Midnight Army is led by Mataymon, who recruits and compels them to do his bidding. Near the end of the story, Mataymon consolidates and reformats all of their data to create 8 Dark Ultimate Digimon to pit against the 8 Chosen Digimon.

BlackTailmon
Sub-commander of the Midnight Army. She becomes Mana and Salamon's mortal enemy from the moment they meet, and delights in tormenting them.

Devimon
Keeper of the Black Gears, whose base of operations is in the Crystal Mountains. His specialty is mind manipulation by showing his victims twisted visions of their loved ones.

Alchemon
A Digimon scientist assigned to extract memories from a Chosen Child, using a mind-block machine. Typically works with cobbled-together machines and jury-rigged setups.

Fenrimon and Lupimon
A pair of werewolf-like Digimon mercenaries who enjoy tormenting their victims.

Jekuhaimon
A Digimon with two distinct forms: the weak and deceptive Jekumon and the fierce, aggressive Haimon. They use their transformation to their advantage by luring unsuspecting victims into becoming their next meal.

Madilimon
Digimon that live in the shadows. They keep themselves hidden until they attack and drain their victims of energy, then encase their victims in sacred objects like wind chimes or crystals. They are typically used as Mataymon's special forces.

Notes

Mataymon’s Origins

Deoxymon

Mataymon’s original form. The Digimon brought into the Real World by the Magamis (Naoko Magami’s parents) in August 1988, during the Mobius Project. Deoxymon’s primary goal was to infect and destroy everything around him, applying the same goal to the Real World once he arrived. After wreaking havoc on the lab, he escaped back into the Digital World, with the Magamis pursuing him.

Apocalymon

Deoxymon eventually evolved into Apocalymon, and his presence in the Digital World ended up warping it, making time between worlds unsynchronized now and then.

In the summer of 1999, the 8 “Adventure” Chosen Children (Taichi’s group) defeated Apocalymon, with a small remnant of him remaining dormant until 2019.

Apocalymon’s new form was destroyed in 2019, during the Great Shaking caused by Setsuko Magami’s Digital and Global Hazards. The original 5 Chosen Children manage to delete him by sheer power, and devastated the world as a result. A remnant of Apocalymon still remained afterward to mutate into Mataymon.

Mataymon

Mataymon, with Minoru Araneta’s help, tried to instigate his plan again in the years following the Great Shaking. His main purpose was now to destroy much of the Real World and its people and rule over whatever and whoever is left.
